What Is a Podiatrist?

A podiatrist is a physician who focuses on the health of the feet, ankles, and the structures that support them. Doctors of Podiatric Medicine (DPMs) are trained to evaluate how problems in the lower extremities affect the entire body — from pain and mobility issues to balance and long-term joint health.

Podiatrists care for patients of all ages and treat a wide range of conditions, from everyday foot concerns to complex medical and surgical problems.
